The controls on this page are used to control how the folder comparison window opens file comparisons.
Automatically close if files were identical
Check this option to close newly opened comparison windows automatically if there are no differences between the compared files. This option can be useful if you have deselected the File content (using file comparison rules) option on the Method options page.
Maximum number of comparisons to open at a time
Limits the number of views that the folder comparison facility will open at any one time.
Once you have examined and closed some of the opened comparison windows, click the Launch comparisons button again and some more file comparison windows (up to the limit) will open.
Warn when comparing files larger than # KB
This option prevents large (and therefore potentially slow) file comparisons from being inadvertently performed.
When you Launch comparisons for one or more selected rows of a folder comparison, confirmation is sought before opening a comparison of any files larger than the specified size.
While using a Two-Way with File Comparison or Three-Way with File Comparison folder comparison, the file comparison in the lower portion of the window updates with the selected row’s files only if they do not exceed the specified size. Otherwise, a notification is shown (provided that the Performing large file comparisons option on the Notifications page is checked). In this case, double-click the selected folder comparison row to launch the file comparison manually.
It is recommended that the Performing large file comparisons option on the Notifications page be enabled. This notification is the only explanation for the absence of a large file comparison corresponding to the selected row in a Two-Way with File Comparison or Three-Way with File Comparison folder comparison.
Double-clicking on a folder row expands/collapses the row
Check this option to make folder rows expand or collapse when double-clicked.
Double-clicking on a folder row opens a new folder comparison window for that row
Check this option to open a new folder comparison for the folders contained in the double-clicked row.
