This page allows you to manage groups.

Details

A group is a collection of users. Groups are granted permissions that control each aspect of Ketura. It is a user’s membership of a particular group that determines how he or she may use Ketura.

To change the name of the group:
  • Change the Name field. This field needs to be completed.
  • Click the Apply button.
To change the description of the group:
  • Change the Description field.
  • Click the Apply button.
To undo any unsaved changes:
  • Click the Reset button.

Description of form fields

Name The name of the group.
Description The description of the group.

Permissions

This tab controls the permissions relating to projects, milestones, issue topics, issues, tasks and work journals that are granted to the group’s members. For other types of permissions, see the More permissions or Personal permissions tabs on this page.

To give the group’s members a particular permission:
  • Check the permission’s checkbox.
  • Click the Apply button.
To revoke a particular permission from the group’s members:
  • Uncheck the permission’s checkbox.
  • Click the Apply button.
To undo any unapplied changes:
  • Click the Reset button.

Projects and milestones permissions

Projects

View allows:

  • all aspects of a project to be viewed.

Modify allows:

  • projects to be created, duplicated and deleted;
  • the recalculation of schedules for all active projects and their alternatives;
  • modification of the information on a project’s General tab;
  • the creation, deletion and arrangement of milestones on a project;
  • the setting of a project’s current milestone;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Milestones

View allows:

  • all aspects of a milestone to be viewed.

Modify allows:

  • milestones to be created and deleted;
  • modification of the information on a milestone’s General tab;
  • the re-balancing of milestones;
  • the positioning of milestones within a project;
  • the setting of a milestone’s desired end date to the calculated end date;
  • the issues of a milestone to be rescheduled;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.

Issue topics permissions

General

View allows:

  • topics to be viewed.

Modify allows:

  • topics to be created and deleted;
  • actions to be performed on an issue;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.

Issues permissions

General

View allows:

  • all aspects of an issue to be viewed;
  • the viewing of the Activity by issue section on the Issue Topic page;
  • the viewing of the Advanced Search page.

Modify allows:

  • the modification of issues;
  • the creation of new issues;
  • issues to be created and deleted;
  • modification of an issue’s details (apart from an issue’s state and associated attachments, contacts and comments which are controlled by separate State, Attachments, Contacts and Comments permissions);
  • the addition of related issues;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
State

Modify allows:

  • the changing of an issue’s state;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Attachments

Add allows:

  • the addition of attachments to issues;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.

Delete allows:

  • the deletion of attachments from issues;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Contacts

Add allows:

  • the addition of related contacts to issues;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.

Remove allows:

  • the removal of related contacts from issues;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Comments

Add allows:

  • the addition of comments to issues;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.

Tasks and work journal permissions

General

View allows:

  • all aspects of a task to be viewed;
  • and automatically grants the View own task permission.

Modify allows:

  • tasks to be created and deleted;
  • modification of the information on a tasks’s Detail tab;
  • and automatically grants the View and Modify own task permissions, found in the Personal permissions tab.
Planned/remaining work

Modify allows:

  • planned and work remaining values for a task to be updated;
  • and automatically grants the View and Modify own tasks planned work and Modify own tasks work remaining permissions, found in the Personal permissions tab.
Work journals

View allows:

  • all aspects of a work journal to be viewed;
  • and automatically grants the View/Modify own work journal permissions.

Modify allows:

  • work journal entries to be created and deleted;
  • modification of work journal entries;
  • and automatically grants the View and View/Modify own work journal permission, found in the Personal permissions tab.
Work journal entries

Lock/Unlock allows:

  • updating of work journal lock dates.

It is possible to lock work journal entries that are on or before a particular date. This is useful if your organization has a particular process for checking and approving work journal entries. A padlock symbol will be shown next to any locked entries that are not modifiable.

More permissions

This tab controls the permissions relating to contacts, users and system administration that are granted to the group’s members. For other types of permissions, see the Permissions or Personal permissions tabs on this page.

To give the group’s members a particular permission:

  • Click the Apply button.
To revoke a particular permission from the group’s members:
  • Uncheck the permission’s checkbox.
  • Click the Apply button.

Contacts

General

View allows:

  • all aspects of a contact to be viewed.

Modify allows:

  • contacts to be created and deleted;
  • modification of Contact details and Notes information on any user’s Personal Profile page;
  • and automatically grants the View and Modify own contact details permission, found in the Personal permissions tab.

Users

General

View allows:

  • all aspects of a user to be viewed.

Modify allows:

  • users to be created and deleted;
  • modification of Access details information on any user’s Personal Profile page;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Cost

View allows:

  • costs to be viewed throughout Ketura.

Modify allows:

  • users’ hourly costs to be updated;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Availability

View allows:

  • the availability calendars on the Users page to be viewed.

Modify allows:

  • updates to the availability calendars;
  • and automatically grants the View Availability and View Allocation permissions.
Allocation

View allows:

  • the allocation calendars on the Users page to be viewed.

Modify allows:

  • updates to the allocation calendars;
  • and automatically grants the View Allocation and View Availability permissions.
Log on

Allow automatic log on allows:

  • users to log on automatically. This should be considered a security risk, as this option stores user ids and passwords insecurely in a cookie on users’ computers. Therefore, it is recommended that this feature be enabled only in environments where computers are not shared and are physically secure.

System administration

Audit trail

View allows:

  • the audit trail to be viewed.

Delete allows:

  • audit trail entries to be deleted;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Database

Backup allows:

  • regular and one-off backups to be performed.

Restore allows:

  • a restore of a previous backup to be performed.
Task sets

View allows:

  • all aspects of task sets to be viewed.

Modify allows:

  • the modification of task sets;
  • task sets to be created and deleted;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Workflow and global issue settings (excluding issue topics)

View/Modify allows:

  • the modification of workflow;
  • the maintenance of lists of issue type, severities and states.
Groups

View/Modify allows:

  • the creation, updating and deletion of groups.
System settings

View/Modify allows:

  • the maintenance of the system title, time and regional settings, and lists of contact types, countries and common words.

Personal permissions

This tab controls the permissions group members have over their own tasks, work journals and personal profiles. For other types of permissions, see the Permissions or More permissions tabs on this page.

To give the group’s members a particular permission:
  • Check the permission’s checkbox.
  • Click the Apply button.
To revoke a particular permission from the group’s members:
  • Uncheck the permission’s checkbox.
  • Click the Apply button.
To undo any unapplied changes:
  • Click the Reset button.

Own tasks and work journal

General

View allows:

  • a member of the group to view tasks assigned to him or herself on the In progress and Pending tabs on the Home Page.

Modify allows:

  • tasks (assigned to the member of the group) to be deleted;
  • modification of the information on a tasks’s Detail tab (if task is assigned to the member of the group);
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Planned work

Modify allows:

  • modification of a task’s planned work value (if task is assigned to the member of the group);
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Work remaining

Modify allows:

  • modification of a task’s work remaining value (if task is assigned to the member of the group);
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Work journal

View/Modify allows:

  • a user to view his or her own work journal;
  • a user to create new work journal entries;
  • a user to update or delete his or her own work journal entries;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.

Own personal profile

General

View allows:

  • a user to view his or her own personal profile.

Modify allows:

  • a user to update his or her own personal profile;
  • and automatically grants the View permission.
Contact details

Modify allows:

  • a user to modify his or her own contact details.
Password

Modify allows:

  • a user to change his or her password.
