Contact types
Each Ketura contact has a type. This can be one of the configured contact types. A contact’s type is used for categorisation.
With a new installation of Ketura default contact types are installed. These contact types can be modified to meet your requirements.
A special contact type exists which on installation is called ‘User’. This contact type is used to represent users of the Ketura system. It’s possible to change the name and description of this type, but it is not possible to delete it.
To create a new contact type:
- Click the New… button.
To modify an existing contact type:
- Make the changes you wish, then click the Apply button.
To abandon changes before you have applied them:
- Click the Reset button. The fields will be restored to their previous values.
To delete existing contact types:
- Select the contact types you want to delete.
- Click the Delete button.
It is not possible to delete the special contact type which on installation is called ‘User’. This contact type is used to represent users of the Ketura system. It is also not possible to delete a contact type if one or more contacts are currently associated with it.
To change the sort order of the contact types:
- Click one of the column heading links. Each time you click the same link, the order in which types are sorted will be reversed.

Countries
Ketura maintains a list of country names. This is so that contacts may be associated with a country. The names of countries are configurable, enabling localization and facilitating the convenient updating of the list. Official country names change surprisingly frequently; a useful source of reference is ISO 3166-1.
To create a new country:
- Click the New… button.
To modify an existing country:
- Make the changes you wish, then click the Apply button.
To delete existing countries:
- Select the countries you want to delete.
- Click the Delete button.
It is not possible to delete a country name while a contact is associated with that country name.
To reset uncommitted changes:
- Click the Reset button.
To change the sort order of the countries:
- Click the ‘Name’ column heading link. Each time you click the link, the order in which countries are sorted will be reversed.

Common words
The common words listed on this tab are excluded from Ketura’s search index, and so will be ignored when searching for issues by their content (comments, descriptions and summaries). This helps to improve search performance and reduce the size of the search index. Changes to the list of common words will not take effect for existing issues unless the search index is rebuilt.
Rebuilding the search index can be a lengthy process and no one will be able to use the system until the rebuild has finished.
To create a common word:
- Click the New… button.
To rebuild the search index:
- Click the Rebuild Search Index button.
To modify an existing common word:
- Make the changes you wish, then click the Apply button.
To delete existing common words:
- Select the common words you want to delete.
- Click the Delete button.
To reset uncommitted changes:
- Click the Reset button.

SCMs
Ketura is able to integrate with certain version control and software configuration management systems (SCMs) such as Perforce and Subversion. The SCM systems that Ketura monitors are configured on this tab. Each configured system is periodically checked to associate changes (i.e. a Perforce changelist or a Subversion repository revision) with individual Ketura issues and milestones.
For further background information about Ketura’s integration with SCM systems, including how Ketura associates checked-in changes with issues and milestones, please see Integrating Ketura with Araxis Merge and SCM (Version Control) Systems.
To have Ketura monitor an SCM system:
- Click the New… button.
To force Ketura to examine all outstanding changes of all monitored SCMs:
- Click the Synchronize All button.
To cause Ketura to discard existing data and resynchronize all the associations of all monitored SCMs:
- Click the Resynchronize All button.
To stop monitoring one or more SCM systems:
- Select the systems you wish to delete.
- Click the Delete button.
