Keep your serial number(s) safe. If you have purchased Merge, your serial number is evidence of your entitlement to use Merge and to receive any support and
updates to which you may be entitled. You will need your serial number should you ever wish to re-install Merge.
One year of support is included in the purchase price for new licences. This provides:
Once your included period of support has expired:
The date when support expires is encoded within each Merge serial number (including those issued to Merge v6.5 customers). Each serial number only gives access to versions of Merge 2007 (and later) released before the encoded support expiry date.
Even if you do not renew support, you can therefore carry on using versions of Merge released before your serial number’s support expiry date. However, if you wish to use versions of Merge 2007 (and later) released after your serial number’s expiry date, you will have to renew support to get a replacement serial number.
The About dialog (available from the Help menu) within Merge 2007 (and later) shows the support expiry date for the serial number used by that copy of Merge.
Another way to find out the entitlement and support expiry date for serial numbers is to enter them in the Merge Support Renewal or Upgrade form on the Araxis website.
Information for Merge v6.5 and Merge v6.0 Subscription customersMerge v6.5 serial numbers will work with Merge 2007 (or later) if the support expiry date encoded in them is after the release date of the version of Merge 2007 (or later) that you are trying to use. In practice, this means that Merge v6.5 customers with serial numbers purchased in the year or so before the initial Merge 2007 release will be able to use that release. Customers who wish to use a version of Merge 2007 or later released after their serial number’s support expiry date will need to renew support to be able to do so.
Merge v6.5 does not check the serial number support expiry date, and so will work with any valid 53-character Merge serial number (including those purchased after the initial Merge 2007 release). Any future updates to Merge v6.5 will therefore be usable by existing Merge v6.5 customers, regardless of the support expiry date encoded into their serial numbers.
Merge v6.0 Subscription customers (but not those who simply have a v6.0 non-subscription licence) are entitled to Merge 2007. It is likely, however, that support has expired for your existing serial number(s). If so, you can exchange your pre Merge 2007 serial numbers (at no cost) for ones having a later support expiry date that will work with Merge 2007.
