Full Setup Package

Note: The instructions in this topic are for the Full Setup Package, available on the Merge cd-rom or downloadable from the Product Downloads and Updates page on the Araxis website.

You must be a member of the local Administrators or Power Users group to install Merge on Windows 2000, XP, or Vista.

Merge might require certain Operating System Updates to be installed before it will operate correctly. You can either install the updates yourself, or you can have Setup install them for you.

Step 1

The Merge online help system requires Internet Explorer 4.0 SP1 (or later) to be installed. Setup will check your computer to see if Internet Explorer is installed. If it isn’t, or the installed version is too old, the following message will be displayed:

In this event, you should download and install a version of Internet Explorer from http://www.microsoft.com/ie/ This link is to an external website. You do not have to use Internet Explorer for day-to-day web browsing, but Merge requires certain components that are only available with Internet Explorer.

Setup checks your computer to see if it contains the components that are required for Merge to operate correctly. Some older versions of the Windows Operating System might require component updates to be installed. If Setup determines that your computer needs an update package to be installed, the following prompt will be displayed:

If you prefer, you can install the components yourself by clicking No and following the instructions in the Operating System Updates help topic. Alternatively, click Yes to instruct Setup to install the updates that are required. If you click No, Setup will terminate. You can restart Setup when you have installed the required component updates. If you click Yes, Setup will install the required components:

Some component updates might require your computer to be restarted before Setup can continue. In this event, the following window will be displayed:

Click Yes to restart your computer, or No if you want to do something else before restarting and continuing with Setup. After you have restarted your computer, re-run the Setup package.

When installation of Operating System component updates is complete, Setup will proceed to the installation of Merge itself:

Click Next > to continue.

You should carefully read the licence agreement that appears in this step. Choose I Agree to agree to the terms of the licence agreement. If you do not agree to the terms then choose I Do Not Agree to stop Setup. In this case, please contact your vendor or email sales@araxis.com to arrange for a refund.

This step enables you to choose a location where Merge will be installed on your computer. The default location should be acceptable in most cases. If you need to change it, click on the Browse... button to choose a different location. On Windows 2000, XP, and Vista, you might be presented with an opportunity to decide whether to make Merge available for use by all users of your computer, or only by yourself.

When you are ready, click Next > to proceed.

Setup has collected enough information to be able to install Merge. To proceed with the installation, click Next >.

A progress window is displayed while Setup copies files to your computer. This step does not usually take more than a few seconds to complete.

This is the final step. Click Close to complete the installation.
