Araxis Merge provides three types of file comparison: text comparison, image comparison, and binary file comparison. By default, Merge opens an empty text file comparison window when it starts. You can open a new comparison window at any
time by clicking the 
button in the toolbar, selecting one of the comparison types from its drop-down menu, or by selecting one of the New Comparison commands in the File menu.
The three types of comparison share a similar appearance and are operated in much the same way.
