File Types

The controls on this options page are used to specify the type of comparison that should be used to compare files of certain types.

When Merge needs to open a new comparison window, the names of the files being compared are checked against the patterns listed for each comparison type. If a pattern matches the file names, then its associated comparison type is used to perform the comparison. If no patterns match, a text comparison is used.

Comparison types and file patterns

This control shows various types of comparison and the filename patterns of the files for which they should be used.
