These downloads are self-extracting executables that use the Microsoft Windows Installer. They include operating system updates from Microsoft, which might be necessary for some older versions of Windows.

These additional downloads are unnecessary for most users, but are provided as a convenience for those who might find them useful.

• Compact MSI setup: this setup is a Microsoft Windows Installer MSI file. It does not contain any operating system updates that might be necessary for some older versions of Windows. It is primarily of benefit to network administrators who wish to automate deployment of Merge to remote machines on a network.
• CD-ROM image: this download is a compressed WinRAR  archive that contains an ISO image of the Merge installation CD-ROM. This image can be extracted from the archive using WinRAR, which can be downloaded from http://www.win-rar.com/ . The extracted image can be burnt to a CD-R disc, which can then be used to install Merge. Alternatively, you can use a program like Alcohol 120%  or Daemon Tools  to mount the image file in a virtual CD-ROM drive.

These downloads are for the 64-bit version of Merge 2009. The 64-bit version of Merge is able to make use of more than 2 GB of RAM, enabling comparisons of very large files. The 64-bit version of Merge has been tested on 64-bit Windows Vista, although it is also expected to work on 64-bit Windows XP. It will not work on 32-bit versions of Windows.
