Do not manually uninstall Ketura prior to upgrading to a new version. The Ketura installer will handle any necessary uninstallation
as part of the installation process.
It is strongly recommended that you wait for any lengthy activities (such as performing a database restore, backing up the
database, or rebuilding the search dictionary) to complete before attempting to uninstall Ketura.
Uninstallation (Mac OS X)Run the Araxis Ketura Manager application (located in the system Applications folder), and select the Uninstall tab. Click the Uninstall Ketura... button. When prompted (and only when prompted), move the Araxis Ketura Manager application to the Trash.
Always use the above mechanism to uninstall Ketura. Bypassing this and simply dragging the Araxis Ketura Manager to the Trash will not properly uninstall Ketura.
Uninstallation completely removes Ketura from your machine, including your example and normal databases. Do not uninstall unless you are happy to discard all your data, or unless you have taken a database backup and stored it safely.
The Ketura uninstall will not remove any backups that have been stored in the default backup folder (/Library/Araxis/Ketura/Backup). Following uninstallation, you may completely remove this folder if you do not wish to keep your backups.
Uninstallation (Windows)Please note that uninstallation of Ketura must be performed using an account with administrative privileges. If in doubt, please see your network or system administrator.
To uninstall Ketura, use the Add or Remove Programs tool in the Windows Control Panel and click the remove button next to the version of Ketura to be removed. This will launch the Ketura Uninstaller program.
As the Uninstaller program runs, a progress bar shows the progress of the uninstallation process. Once complete, click the Close button to exit the Uninstaller program.
To uninstall Ketura, use the Programs and Features item in the Windows Control Panel. Select the Ketura application, and click the Uninstall button in the toolbar. This will launch the Ketura Uninstaller program.
As the Uninstaller program runs, a progress bar shows the progress of the uninstallation process. Once complete, click the Close button to exit the Uninstaller program.
To uninstall Ketura, use the Programs > Uninstall a program link in the Windows Control Panel. Select the Ketura application, and click the Uninstall button in the toolbar. This will launch the Ketura Uninstaller program.
As the Uninstaller program runs, a progress bar shows the progress of the uninstallation process. Once complete, click the Close button to exit the Uninstaller program.
The Uninstaller program removes all files installed by the Ketura Setup and created by Ketura while it has been running, except for the Ketura built-in normal and example databases, which hold all the information stored in the Ketura system (unless you have configured Ketura to use an alternative, third-party, database). These databases are preserved in the Database and Example Database folders of the Ketura installation folder. They can be reused, simply by re-installing Ketura to the same installation folder and choosing to keep the existing databases when prompted by the Ketura Setup program. Alternatively, you may delete these folders manually if you are sure that you no longer need the database it contains.
The Uninstaller program also preserves the InstallerLog folder to log the events of the uninstallation. You can delete this folder manually once you have successfully uninstalled Ketura.
If uninstallation failsIn the event of problems being encountered during uninstallation, a page will be displayed with information that may help to locate the cause of the problem.
